U12 Boys - National Winners - England Hockey In2Hockey Championships
We are very pleased to announce that the U12 boys finished as national winners in the England Hockey In2Hockey Championships.
The compeition final was held at Cannock Hockey Club. The team were divided in two pools with the winner of each pool going straight to the final. Their first game was against Deeside which produced a 3-1 win. After a short break they were up against Beeston gaining another 2-0 victory. The third game in their pool was against Hertford with another convincing 4-0 win. Going into their final game already top of their pool they played Bournemouth and finished with a 2-2 draw.
The team finished as overall pool winner and played Cheltenham in the final. Haslemere dominated play and showed off some spectacular hockey moving the ball around effortlessly rewarded them with the first goal. After half time, Cheltenham rose to the challenge and made the score level. After a series of short corners, Haslemere had failed to convert their efforts with the score 1-1 on the final whistle.
The rules of competition are such that they would face a penalty shoot out to decide the winner. After a very tense nail biting first round the scores were level at 3-3, Haslemere stepped up to the mark again to make it 6-6... they were not going to be beaten. Finally the nerves got to Cheltenham and Moore put away the final shot to make it 8-7 and Haslemere came through victorious. A truly inspirational performance from Haslemere and one to be proud of.
Thanks must to go to Jason Moore who has coached and nurtured this team for past 7 years and to his assistants, Chris Stokes and Mel Knight.
In2Hockey Championship Regional Winners

In their pool games they bet Maidenhead 7-0, Southgate 3-0 and Marden Russet 3-0 to go through as Pool Winners. Then they played East Grinstead in the Quarter Finals winning 3-0 and then beat Oxford Hawks 4-0 in the Semi Finals.
The Finals they were up against Surbiton who had not conceded a goal in the Championship they won in the final seconds scoring right at the end from a penalty corner to win 2-1.
An absolute fantastic achievement for the Boys and the Club. The Boys have qualified as Regional Winners to play in the National Finals to be played at Cannock HC on Saturday 10th May.Thanks must go to Lead Coach Jason Moore who has nurtured this team from a very young age and his Assistant Coaches Chris Stokes and Mel Knight.

vs IN2 Hockey Round 2 - 22 Mar 2015
Home Score: 12 - Opposition Score: 7
Match Result: Win
Under 12 boys came within a whisker of a second succesive show at the finals , but just ran out of steam against a great Cantebury side in the semis.
We started brightly against Melton Russetts from Kent with a straightforward 4-0 win . Next up were Reading who put up a strong show but we were ultimately comfortable winners 2-1. We tactically threw the third game against Surbiton by resting key players , but 3-1 was still a close result .
We then played Eastbourne in the quarter final . With the stakes rising we took an early lead through Alex Beckett and inspite of a quick eaqualiser by the oppo , futher goals from Alex and Jonathon Hoe x2 made the final score a comfortable 4-1.
Final game against Cantebury , and all to play for. We sadly lost a key player Will Porter at the very start which threw us slightly . Neverthe less we hung in , and on the stroke of half time we scored a peach Alfie Richards taking the ball from the edge of his own D and beating most of the cantebury team before hitting a sweet reverse stick Game on 1-1
I dont know how we managed to loose it in the second half but we the proceeded to let in two of the worst goals of the season OUCH , and the feeling at the end was of real disappointment at getting so close to the final and proceeding to the nationals later this month.
Well done to the entire squad and a fantastic achievement of joint third in the south of England

Havant 1-8 Haslemere under 12 boys
With a number of key players mising it gave several guys to step up , and what looked like quite a difficult fixture finished with a very comfortable victory . Lots of good performances around the pitch , particularly Teddy at right wing and John Canning up front .
Great running and organisation from Harvey and Ed at the back made this a comfortable victory Well done everyone

Under 12 Boys QUALIFY for Regionals
Haslemere took a squad of 10 to Southampton on Sunday to compete in the national tournamnet held every year . This weekend was the Hampshire round , and a tough group , with the likes of Fareham Winchester and Trojans making it a very competitive section to get out of. First up Fleet and Ewshott who were disspatched by 4 goals to 0 in a great show of clinical finishing by Alex Beckett and Alfie Richards . Next up were Petersfield who were comfortably beaten 3-0 in a similarly one sided afair. Next up Fareham who we have been neck and neck with in a variety of competitions over the last few seasons. Some resolute defending and a great break away goal from Alex and we were within 30 seconds of a top win . However this is Fareham , and a last gasp short which flew past the impressive Archie Summers gave Fareham a share of the spoils . We comfortably beat Havant 2-0 in the final game , but due to Farehams better goal diffeerence they got the easier side of the draw and we were left with a difficult tie against a good Winchester side. . Things got a whole lot worse as our captain Alex Beckett took a nasty stick in the eye and had to receive treatement while his colleagues were loosing 1-0 very much against the run of play .
Still Haslemere pushed on and within seconds to go Louise Whittle Wright got a deserved equaliser to take it into a penalty shoot out.OUCH !!!!!!
Haslemere won the toss and decided to take the first penalty flick , cooly despatched by Alfie Richards.Winchester promptly put their first and second flicks wide , and it was left to Teddy Nielson to convert the winning flick . We wre through to the next round , and much rejoicing from parents coaches and kids alike . The final against Fareham was a bit of a dead rubber , and for the record we were beaten 3-0 but I do suspect one or two minds were on next week .
It was a great day for a fantastic team who thoroughly deserve to be in the next round . Well done guys and get better soon Alex !!!!!!
